Reltio Connected Customer 360: 2020.1 Release Notes

Release Information

We are pleased to announce the General Availability of Reltio Connected Customer 360 (aka Reltio Cloud) release 2020.1. on Sunday, February 16, 2020.

There are specific features listed that are available in the 2020.1 release under Reltio’s Early Access (EA) program. Customers who are interested in participating in an EA program should contact their Reltio Customer Success Manager to enquire about availability.

Product Renaming and Branding

As you may have seen, we unveiled new branding, logo, messaging and website in January. Reltio Cloud is now known as Reltio Connected Customer 360. The new name better represents all the capabilities, and evolving platform roadmap to help you deliver on your company initiatives and goals. Watch the video here.

Core Service Enhancements

Partial override (selective update) of nested attributes in an entity is supported in this release. This feature will avoid the need to do a full reload of existing attributes and also will make sure existing attributes are not deleted during update. Please submit a Support ticket to enable partial override for your tenant.

Customizable Match Rule Types

The match service was primarily focused on finding the pair of records with the purpose of merging pairs to create a unique profile record. The supported match rule type represented the action that will be performed on the matched pair. For example, Automatic match rule type would always result in the merging of the matched pair and publish the merged event to the streaming API. Similarly Suspect rule type will result in the creation of potential match review and publish the potential match record in the streaming API.

In this release we are adding a new capability in the match service Customizable Rule Type that will allow customers to define the rule type by associating it with any of the support match actions. Match action is comprised of granular actions that are triggered when any match rule finds a pair. These granular actions are also called Match Action Handlers. For more information, see Understanding Custom Rules.

Below is the list of all supported action handlers that customers can use to build a match rule type. Customers can use any combination of handlers to create a new match rule type. For example, one can use the SuspectMatchHandler and StreamingAutoLinkActionHandlers to find the potential matches that should be related to each other instead of merging and publishing this pair with the event type of POTENTIAL_LINK_FOUND. This will enable the consuming application to get notified of the matched pair that are related to each other.

  • AutoMergeHandler - This will result in merging of the matched pair.
  • SuspectMatchHandler - This will result in creation of potential match.
  • StreamingAutoLinkActionHandler - This will result in publishing of the matched pair to the streaming API queue with the event type of AUTO_LINK_FOUND.
  • StreamingPotentialLinkActionHandler - This will result in publishing of the matched pair to the streaming API queue with the event type of POTENTIAL_LINK_FOUND.
  • Configure to control the action that will be performed on the matched pairs based on the rule type
  • New match actions capable of publishing match pairs to the streaming API queue can be leveraged by the consumer outside of Reltio to link the matched pairs. New linking related event types will allow you to distinguish the matched pairs for linking from the matched pairs for merging. This will enable customers to reduce or eliminate the work of identifying and relating the entities manually.
  • Some of the use cases that can be addressed using the linking actions are:
    • Managing Household - Find the members of household using the link match rule types and create relation between the members
    • Managing Entity Hierarchies - Find candidate organization/departments/units or any other entity types which can be related with each other using directional relation

Reference Data Management (RDM)

An Activity Log is now available in RDM that will track changes made on a lookup value, lookup type, and source. Viewing past changesets is a valuable tool to see how the lookup values have evolved. This feature will help answer the following questions:

  • Who made the changes?
  • What changes were made?
  • When was the change made?

Match Rule Configurator

In this release, we are introducing the Match Rule Configurator feature in Data Modeler to manage match rules for the entity types. Customers will now be able to create new match rules or update an existing one using the guided UI. The Match Rule Configurator will support Suspect and Automatic Merge rule types. For more information, see Match Rule Editor.

Match Rule Advanced Editor

Additionally, an Advanced Editor is provided in the Match Rule Configurator that can be used to configure match rules in JSON format. There are few advanced settings that are currently not supported such as the custom comparators, relevance based match rules, etc. For configuring match rules with such an advanced setting, customers can use the Advanced Editor that supports all possible match rule settings.

  • Match rules can be configured by the users with little or no knowledge of Reltio's match rule configuration syntax.
  • Configured match rules can be validated quickly by using the Match Analyzer tool available in the application.
  • Time to configure match rules is reduced significantly.

Data Loader


Data Loader will now support erasing attribute values or assigning default values during partial updates. Example: The source system has removed all PII information like the phone number for compliance reasons, customers can remove this data from Reltio by selecting the empty property for that attribute during data load. New usability enhancements include the ability to delete existing mappings. For more information, see Deleting an Existing Mapping.

Workflow Creation on Data Load


Data loader will now support a job level setting for Data Change Request (DCR) creation. Entity and relation creation and changes can then go through a DCR Approval flow. For more information, see Specifying Records Update Preference

Partial Approval or Rejection of DCR for new Entities

The partial approval or rejection of Data Change Requests (DCRs) released previously in 2019.3 has been extended to support new entities. Approvers can now select a few attributes from a new entity creation request and approve them or reject them. This feature is based on role/permissions.

This feature will give data stewards additional flexibility to approve or reject part of change request hence improving their work productivity. For more information, see About Data Change Request.

UI Modeler

UI Modeler now has a configuration option to show relationship views in a listview or tabular view for the profile screen. This eliminates the need to create a support ticket to enable the tabular view of relationship feature. For more information, see Relations View.

Machine Learning and Analytics


Reporting is a new module that offers a pre-configured set of real-time operational reports to help you to view, measure, and monitor your data organized in the Reltio Platform to surface valuable actionable insights.

Analytics is a new offering that extends Reporting and makes Reltio Connected Customer 360 data, as well as operational data, available for real time ad-hoc and customizable reporting, analytics and machine learning.

Note: Analytics requires a separate paid subscription.

Analytics provides both a connector (supporting batch and streaming modes) as well as a high performance queryable environment. Your tenant’s Connected Customer 360 data (for example, profiles, interactions, relationships) and operational data (for example, matches, merges, workflows) from your Reltio Tenant are synchronized in real time so your teams can use your choice of business intelligence tools for ad-hoc queries, reports, analytics, and your languages (R, Python, Java, Scala, and so on) for machine learning against the data.

  • Access to create and execute ad-hoc and custom queries against Reltio Connected Customer 360 data in a high performance analytics environment using BI tools and languages of your choice
  • Leverage the power of valuable operational data management metrics and actionable business insights

Calculated Attribute Reindex Optimization

Reltio has further optimized the way in which updates to calculated attributes are processed.

For example, as part of the Data Persist job execution in which updated values are posted back into profiles, we now determine entities where calculated attributes are changed and then, reindex only the calculated attributes of these changed profiles instead of the previous behavior of re-indexing all of the attributes on the entity.

This performance optimization is turned on by default for all tenants and does not require separate configuration.

External Match Using Machine Learning (ML)


We continue to add new capabilities and enhance ML based external matching currently in Early Access (EA).

New Features and Improvements
  • Create ML models for matching using Reltio tenant - Users are no longer required to upload the sample files for building the models. ML based external matching will support using the Reltio tenant data for training the models.
  • Build multiple models for the same entity types - Users will be able to create and test multiple models in parallel for the same entity type. Based on the result of the matching, users can then approve and publish the model that meets the matching criteria.
  • Simplified Training - The training screen has been improved to provide better usability and guide users through the training process by keeping them informed on the progress of training.
  • Improved ML based external matching UI - We have improved the overall look and feel of the UI to enhance the user experience.

Connectors and DTSS

Salesforce Connector Managed Package (SFDC)

SalesForce Connector (SFDC) has been published on the Salesforce AppExchange - Reltio Connected Customer Data for Salesforce. It offers bi-directional synchronization and includes search before create.

Support for default Salesforce merge, synchronization of reference attributes and ability to configure custom mappings functionalities have been added to the managed package in this release.

Customers can now download Reltio Connected Customer Data for Salesforce via the Salesforce AppExchange.

Customers who have deployed the unmanaged package version are not impacted. Migration to the new managed packaged version, should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

In this release, we have added the ability to add custom mapping script in the managed package. Customers can now add their own custom logic for mapping in order to do any kind of transformations or calculations on the end values.

D&B Connector

The D&B Connector has been upgraded to support the new D&B Direct+ API in the previous release. These web services are used to stream Dun & Bradstreet data and analytics in real time directly into enterprise applications. In this release we have enhanced the D&B Connectors capabilities to support batch mode using D&B Direct+ API and added scheduling capabilities.

Customers who have deployed the connector based on the D&B Direct 2.0 APIs are not impacted, and it will continue to function without interruption. Customers who wish to upgrade to D&B Direct+ API, need to obtain separate license with Dun & Bradstreet.

Reltio’s ability to support both versions of D&B APIs provides an unparalleled choice for organizations to pick and choose the right offering from Dun & Bradstreet for accurate and consistent real-time data which is comprised of more than 30,000 global sources and updated 5 million times per day.

Mulesoft Connector

We now have a certified Mulesoft Connector available for Mule V4. Customers can choose either Reltio Connector Mule 3 (which supports Mule V3) or Reltio Connector Mule 4 (which supports Mule V4) depending on the business needs.

The Mulesoft Connector easily connects various data sources to Reltio Self-Learning Data Platform. This connector helps with servicing data to Reltio Cloud and provisioning reliable data back to downstream systems for operational execution and analytical insights.

Customers who have earlier deployed Reltio Connector Mule 3 can continue using the connector.

Data Tenant Subscription Service (DTSS)

DTSS now has the ability to update the delete date in customer tenant as per the date provided for a crosswalk in data tenant (DT). Previously when setting a future date as the delete date, DTSS would update the delete date in customer tenant as system date. Now with this update, customers would be able to set the delete date in data tenant to a future date and DTSS would apply the same changes in the customer tenant. For example, when you set a future date as a delete date for a crosswalk in DT, the crosswalk was updated in the customer tenant (CT) with delete date as current system date. This behaviour has been enhanced and now CT has the exact same date as what has been set in DT.

Additionally, DTSS now has the ability to download the profile in CT if the entity crosswalk is set as future date in DT.

Reltio Hub

New Search Experience


Reltio is excited to roll-out a new simplified search experience that's even more intuitive, guided, and faster. This new UI was conceived through feedback and research conducted with customers and partners in conjunction with algorithmic usage pattern studies on our existing UI. For more information, see Search.

What's new

Streamlined Search landing experience for guided navigation. Left panel is designed to enable quick searches through - Recent searches, Saved searches and Faceted search.

In this release we are introducing Recent searches so users can quickly access past search queries. We have also revised our Saved search for better usability.

Faceted search now has an inbuilt ML based recommendation engine that will guide users with search attributes that are most relevant to them. Faceted search will also act as explorer where users can graphically view data distribution to guide their search queries.

Advanced search will now support "Or" condition and advanced concepts like grouping for more sophisticated queries. Also, the search results are now displayed in advanced table view. This view has many usability improvements like drag, drop and re-arrange columns, add new columns, sort/filter and type-ahead search, and so on.

This and many other usability enhancements have been added to our search experience. Customers will have an option to toggle between old and new search, however they can make this setting permanent for a user in the setting.

Note: Customers who wish to use DTSS and Bulk edit will have to switch to an old search view.

Hierarchy Reverse Traversal View


In this release we have added the support for changing the start and end objects of graph traversal, to render hierarchy trees in reverse order. With this capability our customers have flexibility to render and request their hierarchies in any order without having to change the data model and ETL. For more information, see Hierarchy Management Facet Settings.


Use Case: Imagine a scenario, where UI Profile Screen contains hierarchy facet which shows the hierarchy of departments and hospitals across all patient product platforms MDM, CRM, and so on. Standard data model has start object as Department (child) and end object as the Hospital (parent). But departnet to hospital hierarchy requires data in the reverse order.

Changing this strategy at the model and data level can have a major impact on several systems.In such a scenario, customers need the flexibility to store relationships in a standard format but access hierarchies (through UI and API) in a manner that’s most relevant to the consuming user.


GET <URL>/_tree? API can now return both graph-based on [start object, end object] of relation or reversed order, that is [end object, start Object] using optional parameter options=reverseRelations. For more information, see Get Tree.

Users can configure the Hierarchy facet render style for profile page based on the parameter Reverse relation defined in the UI configuration of the profile in UI Modeler of Console.

Activity Log and History Data Retention

A setting for the duration of data retention period settings for Development, Test and Production tenants for activity log and history data has been introduced. Please refer to the documentation here for more information.

Reducing the volume of activity logs and history data, which consume Reltio Storage Units (RSU) will help you better optimize your entitlements and system performance.

To ensure you are appropriately covered, please file a support ticket by February 21, 2020 if you wish to request a custom retention period for your Production tenants. If you do not submit a support ticket by February 21, 2020, the default retention period will be applicable.

Note: Please note the following points:
  • Retention period settings take immediate effect and apply to both (existing and new) activity log and history log entries.
  • Any requests to set retention periods after Feb 21, 2020 will incur a fee per Production tenant.
  • Development tenants will be set to 1 month, Test tenants will be set to 3 months and these settings are not customizable.

Post-February 16, 2020 Features

Please note that the following features will be delivered post 2020.1 GA. We will provide an update on the date of their release shortly after February 16, 2020.

Tenant Level Metadata Security Role Grants

Previously, with metadata security, a user could be assigned the following roles (test tenants are omitted for brevity):

  • ROLE_READONLY to access the production tenant
  • ROLE_READWRITE to access the development tenant

When the user accessed the production tenant, the permissions were determined by combining both roles, granting the user read and write access (instead of read only access).

To avoid accidentally granting additional permissions, it was recommended to include the tenant in the role names. That is, introduce four roles as follows.


The user above would then be assigned roles as follows:

  • ROLE_PROD_READONLY to access the production tenant
  • ROLE_DEV_READWRITE to access the development tenant

With 2020.1 release a new configuration setting has been introduced at the tenant configuration level. To enable this configuration please file a Support ticket. After it is enabled, only the granted roles from the accessed tenant are assigned to the user. For example, if accessing the production tenant, only the ROLE_READONLY role is assigned to the user (not ROLE_READWRITE). If accessing the development tenant, only the ROLE_READWRITE is assigned to the user (not ROLE_READONLY). This avoids the need to create additional roles that include the tenant name.

User Group Support in Single Sign-On

User groups provide a convenient way of assigning the same set of roles to multiple user accounts. Previously in 2019.3 configuration of user group support for Single Sign-On (SSO) was made available via API call only. In this release we will make the configuration available via the SSO page in the Reltio Console (customers using SAML 2.0). This will simplify configuration of the feature without the need to learn the API.

Deprecation Updates

Export Version 1

Export version 2 was released in 2019.1 and Export version 1 was planned for deprecation in 2020.1. We have extended the deprecation date to July 3rd, 2020 to provide customers with additional time to adopt Export version 2.
