Potential Matches Perspective

Manage potential matches easily by using the Potential Matches perspective.

Reltio Platform uses match rules to determine if two records are the same. Rules determine if two Profiles are a match, not a match, or a potential match. Reltio platform lets you manage potential matches from the Profile view.

View Potential Matches

  1. Navigate to a Profile.
  2. Click the Potential Matches icon to display the Potential Matches perspective.

Note: The Potential Matches perspective and the Potential Matches facet display only the active entities by default. Global filters and other conditions are ignored while displaying potential matches. To view all active and inactive entities, you can use the filter option.

Match grid

The Potential Matches grid displays Profile information on the left, and up to two other potentially matched profiles adjacent on the right.

The Potential Matches grid displays the following information:

  • Sources, indicated with icons. Hover over each icon to display the name of the data source. Profiles with more than one source display multiple source icons. Reltio icons indicate data obtained through the Reltio platform or API. Icons displaying "DT" indicate a Data Tenant source.

  • Match actions for potential matches. Select Merge to merge the potential match with the profile, or select Not a Match to mark as not a match and prevent future matches between the two records.

  • Match rules for potential matches, showing the match rules responsible for displaying the potential match. Click the arrow icon to expand and hide the rules.

  • When you click the arrow to expand match rules, if that pair is recommended by the Match IQ application, then the term Recommended Match appears as shown below.

Note: The Match IQ application uses machine learning techniques to generate match pairs along with the match rules configured in the tenant. For more information about the Match IQ application, see Match IQ.
  • Entity attributes for each entity enable side-by-side data comparison of attribute Operational Values. Click arrows adjacent to attributes to expand nested attributes.

Click the Expand All icon to expand the common attributes for all entities.

Expand all displays all nested attributes to enable side-by-side comparisons.

Reltio platform highlights attributes with zebra stripes to indicate that the attributes are not available for merging.

  • Entity URIs, displayed at the bottom of the grid.

  • Entity crosswalks, displayed at the bottom of the grid. Click the arrow adjacent to a crosswalk to expand crosswalks details. Details include Source System Name, ID Value, Create Date, Last Update Date, and Reltio Load Date.

  • Score, for all potential matches based on Match and Merge rules, scores are displayed adjacent to the potential match. Potential matches are displayed and ordered by score from highest to lowest.

Tabs

You can display and hide tabs option associated with the Potential Matches perspective. You may wish to hide the tabs to enable more space for the grid view.

Tab options include Potential Matches, Find Matches, and Not a Match.

Potential Matches Tab

The Potential Matches grid displays up to three potential matches at a time. If you have a list of potential match candidates, use the Potential Matches tab to control which potential matches are displayed in the grid view. On the Potential Matches tab, select the potential matches that you want to add to the grid view on the left. Use the pagination controls at the bottom of the list to navigate through the entire list of potential matches.

You can include Transitive Matches by selecting the Show Transitive Matching checkbox.

Merge and Merge All Potential Matches

On the Profile perspective, the Potential Matches widget shows the Potential Matches summary. You can either Merge the potential match with the profile details or declare it as Not a match. But, if you click the See all link on the Potential Matches widget, the Potential Matches perspective appears. Here, you can do much more with the Potential Matches.

From the grid-view itself, you can compare the attributes of the potential matches that are displayed and choose to either Merge the potential matches or declare the potential matches as Not a Match. Each potential match that appears in the active grid has a Merge button on top, to allow you to merge that individual potential match with the operational value (OV) that appears as the first record on the left. To enable you to merge all the potential matches that are displayed in the active grid with the OV, a Merge All button is provided in the active grid itself.

However, you cannot merge more than three potential matches using the grid-view. For merging multiple potential matches, use the Merge All option that is available on the Potential Matches tab on the right.

Note: Consider the following important points:
  • The Merge All button in the grid-view is configurable. Please file a support ticket at support@reltio.com for enabling/disabling this feature.
  • The Merge All in the right panel (Potential Matches tab) is not configurable; it is always visible.

Using the Potential Matches tab, select all the potential matches that you would like to merge. After you select the profiles by selecting the checkboxes against them, the Merge All button becomes active and the system displays a message about the number of profiles that you have selected. You can use the Merge All functionality on the Potential Matches tab to merge any number of selected profiles at one go.

Note: You can use the Filter functionality to display potential matches based on specific Sources, or, use the Sort by Match Score functionality and then, merge the desired potential matches. See the Filtering by Sources and Match Rules and Score-based ordering of potential matches sections.

From the Potential Matches tab, you can check the match rules that have resulted in that profile being displayed as a potential match. By clicking the drop-down next to a potential match profile, you can see all the match rules that evaluated to true for this pair of records. See the image given below as an example.

Additionally, you can choose to add a Comment, Merge or declare it as Not a Match by choosing the respective buttons available next to each potential match profile. If you are not convinced about merging the potential matches, you can choose Clear selection from the displayed message.

Resolving Potential Relationships (EA)

Overview

As a Data Steward, you have been using the Potential Matches perspective to review the matching entities to determine if the candidate pair should be merged or set to 'Not a Match'. You can take additional actions on a matched pair based on the match rule.

The Resolving Potential Relationships feature allows you to map a match rule to supported actions in the Potential Matches perspective. You can ask an administrator to configure the actions that you want to associate with the match rules as part of the UI configuration.

Note: This is an Early Access (EA) feature. To try this, you can request for EA by filing a support ticket.

As an example, you can define that the potential match pairs generated by a specific rule (for example, Rule 1) have the Merge action associated with them. Similarly, if the potential match pair is generated by another rule (for example, Rule 2), then you could define that a relationship is created instead of merging the two entities. Moreover, if a potential match pair is matched on both Rule 1 and Rule 2, then you can define that both the option to Merge and the option to Add Relationship are available.

Note: If you would like to provide only the option to add a relationship for potentially matched pairs for a rule, you can request the Reltio Support team to set the allowMerge property to false while configuring the feature.

In addition, the Not a Match option is always available, by default, for all potential match pairs seen in the Potential Matches perspective.

Note: Currently, only the suspect type match rules are supported for configuring the Add Relationship functionality.
You can use the External Match API or specify the query in the following format:
https://{{environmentName}}.reltio.com/reltio/api/{{tenantID}}/entities/{{entityURI}}/_matches?type=suspect_link
.

Adding a Relationship

Besides providing the Merge, Merge All, and Not a Match options, the Potential match perspective allows you to add a relationship too.

Click the Add Relationship option to add a relationship and choose the relationship type in the Type field. The relationship type (Type) drop-down appears only if you have configured more than one type of relationship.

Click +More attributes to add any other attribute that is relevant to the relationship.

Enter the details for all the attributes that are important for the relationship, for example, specify the Affiliation SubType either as Child to Parent (CHTP) or Parent to child (PATC). Enter the relationship start and end dates for the relationship.

You can add new attributes by clicking on Create Additional Attributes and specifying the attribute details like the name, type and value. You can also create an affiliation role, if needed. After specifying all the relationship details, click APPLY. A relationship of the selected type is created between the two entities and the pair is marked as Not a match. You can see the relationship details in the Relationships perspective.

Known Limitations

The following known limitations are being worked upon:

  • You can only configure the Suspect match rule type to show the additional action of Add Relationship from the Potential Matches perspective.
  • Currently, this feature is supported through the JSON configuration only. You cannot use the UI Modeler to configure this feature.

Filtering by Sources and Match Rules

You can use the filter option to filter the potential matches by their sources, match rules, and/or Match IQ. Click the Filter icon to select the specific sources or the selected match rules based on which the potential matches must be displayed. To filter for potential matches recommended by the Match IQ application, select the Show Match IQ pairs option.

Select the Include entities that have ended option to include a list of entities that are inactive. In other words, when you select this option, the filter option displays a list of potential matches that are inactive.

You can search the Sources and/or Match rules that you want to add as the filter criteria. Both these dialog boxes display a list and show relevant matches once you start typing the sources or match rules. Click to add the required Sources/Match rules. Double-click works like a toggle switch while selecting the sources or match rules. For example, if you have already added a source and you click on it again, that particular source is removed from the selection. Otherwise, you can use the close button on each entry to remove it from the filter.

Specify the Match rules based on which the potential matches must be displayed.

You can enter the match rules to search the ones you want to include as the filter criteria.

You can also choose to include end-dated or inactive entities as potential matches. Click OK to set the filter and view results based on the criteria mentioned in the filter. You can use the Clear Filter button to clear your selection in sources and/or match rules.

Score-based ordering of potential matches

Reltio allows you to view potential matches based on the scores of the potential matches. Score-based ordering of potential matches is useful when you are managing profiles with a large number of matches. When you navigate to the potential matches for a profile, you can view the most relevant matches. Relevant matches include those profiles that have a higher score based on the combination of match rules. The potential matches can be ordered by score or by an attribute of the profile.

Click the Bolt icon. In the Sort by section, select Match score to display the potential matches ordered on their match scores. In the Sort Direction section, you can choose Ascending or Descending order of match score for listing the potential matches. Reltio displays the results in the descending order of the match scores by default.

Find Matches Tab

Use the Find Matches tab to query data sources for potential match records. Enter a query into the Search field to filter your results from the results set.

Filter results by selecting a data source from the Source filter.

Filter results by specifying a particular entity attributed. Select an attribute using the Query filter.

Not a Match Tab

The Not a Match tab displays potential matches that have been marked as not a match.

Click the checkbox adjacent to the Profile name to display the Profile in grid.

Reinstate a record as a potential match by clicking the Reinstate Match icon.

You can merge a Profile marked as not a match by clicking the Merge icon.

Search for potential matches

Use the Search functionality in combination with the Potential Match filter to find potential matches.

  1. Select Search from the main menu.

  2. Click the +More link from the sidebar menu.
  3. Select the Potential Matches filter.
  4. You can hover over the Potential Matches bar graph and click any particular bar that you want to include in the Search Results as a filter. This helps to narrow your search results.

  5. The Search Results are updated based on the newly added criterion from the Potential Matches bar graph.
